The Carlisle has this adorable little stage, perfect for a harp!

The Carlisle was a flurry of activity, so I couldn't get a picture the other way around, but it was gorgeous when it was finished! Harp can be so wonderful for the cocktail hour - I have so many upbeat pop tunes that you wouldn't expected to hear on harp. Additionally, harp allows for your guests to easily visit, and can provide a nice contrast to the exciting, surround sound experience of the DJ or band. The Westin Chicago Lombard is a really lovely venue, and much of that is due to the staff. They were readily available, and so very helpful. Because I have a Bollywood repertoire, I frequently get called for weddings that are combining some Southeast Asian traditions into an otherwise Western ceremony. In these cases, it is always good to have input from the folks who know the space the best, so that I get myself positioned correctly in the room. Everything was incredibly smooth, and the results were just what the bride had in mind!

Anniversary Harpist, Carlisle Banquets, Lombard

The room had a gold color scheme,
perfect for the 50th celebration!

It is always such a pleasure playing for Anniversaries! Carlisle Banquets was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and provided the perfect setting for the amazing couple's 50th wedding anniversary celebration.

The couple wanted to hear "One in a Million You", and it sounds fantastic on harp - I will be playing it regularly from now on!

Westin Lombard Yorktown Center Wedding Facility

Banquet halls are wonderful for their ability to handle large crowds really effectively, but they are not always chock full of charm.  Well, just recently I played for an event at a banquet facility that I found really surprising:  The Lombard Westin!  Officially, the "Westin Lombard Yorktown Center".  As its name implies, it is tucked behind the Yorktown shopping mall in Lombard, and it is a gigantic place.  It is also the last place I expected to find a "room with a view"!  Turns out, there is a lovely reservoir behind the mall, and two of their smaller banquet halls overlook the site.  I saw the Junior Ballroom, and the banquet manager said the room could accommodate 450 people for dinner and still have room for a small dance floor!  I was actually there for a corporate event, so my harp was set up in the hallway outside the Junior Ballroom to greet guests as they arrived (no pictures, sorry!).  Additionally, because the company was going to be having a video presentation, the shades were across the windows, and I couldn't get a great shot of the view. Still, hopefully you can get a sense of the trees and shrubs visible from inside the hall.  Nature!  Right outside a banquet hall window!  I thought you'd want to know.
