Reception Harpist, The Armour House, Lake Forest

The Armour House is one of the iconic wedding locations in the greater Chicago area, and I am always delighted to be there. It is not always possible to play from the veranda, because the harp can really end up baking if the sun is out in full, but the weather really cooperated on this day. Or at least it did for the first 50 minutes of the cocktail hour! Then the storm rolled through, and I was grateful that the indoor areas are so lovely and accommodating!

I played briefly in the room just off the veranda, and then moved to the grand staircase for dinner. There is no shortage of gorgeous areas in this venue!

Reception Harpist, The Carlisle, Lombard

The Carlisle has this adorable little stage, perfect for a harp!

The Carlisle was a flurry of activity, so I couldn't get a picture the other way around, but it was gorgeous when it was finished! Harp can be so wonderful for the cocktail hour - I have so many upbeat pop tunes that you wouldn't expected to hear on harp. Additionally, harp allows for your guests to easily visit, and can provide a nice contrast to the exciting, surround sound experience of the DJ or band. You can always find my current list of songs on my website: www.Harp123.com

Ceremony Harpist, At Home in Oak Brook

A beautiful little pond was the focal point

My second lovely at-home wedding this month! The bride requested a "cocktail hour" before the ceremony, so all of the guests relaxed to harp music while enjoying some refreshments before the ceremony began. When it was time, the bride processed to "True Colors", and it was poignant and wonderful!

Ceremony and Reception Harpist, At Home, St Charles

I was set up in the room adjoining the greenhouse.

A wedding at home is a lovely, intimate affair. This particular bride loved the movie "Father of the Bride" with Steve Martin, so we had lots of fun music to start with: Chapel of Love, My Girl, and The Way You Look Tonight. After I played for the ceremony, I moved back just a few feet, and played until dinner was complete. Harp music is like that: a pretty good idea for many parts of your big day!

If you've got a favorite movie, let's see if I can play the music from it!! www.ChicagoWeddingHarpist.com

Ceremony Harpist, The Wayside Chapel, Palos Park

The Wayside Chapel in Palos Park is an absolute gem! It is suitable for indoor or outdoor weddings (there is a stone patio), and can accommodate 70 people. Everything about it is charming, from the beautiful hillside approach, to the on staff non-denominational officiant. Of course, harp music sounds great here!

This couple wanted music to be central to their ceremony, and they had really eclectic taste, so we included the following: Songbird (Fleetwood Mac), Ripple (Grateful Dead), Have I Told You Lately That I Love You (Van Morrison), Stand By Me, and Nothing Compares 2U (Sinead O'Connor/Prince). It was a blast!

Cocktail Reception Harpist, DoubleTree Hotel, Oak Brook

The lobby at the DoubleTree in Oak Brook is a very generous size, and harp music warms it up really nicely! On this day, we were celebrating a 25th anniversary, and the party attendees wandered between the various stations providing food and drink while listening to Bollywood favorites. It was a lovely party, and I was so happy to try out my newest Bollywood arrangement - Mitwa!

I now have a complete hour of Bollywood music, and the selections are listed at my main website:

Ceremony Harpist, Cafe Brauer, Chicago

Cafe Brauer is an iconic venue in Lincoln Park; it is a feast for the eyes, and just sparkles at night. I am always delighted to be there! The bride chose "So This is Love" from Cinderella for the flower girls, and "Can't Help Falling in Love" for her entrance. It was an absolutely fabulous combo, and I do hope I get to use it again someday!

The room was a hub of activity, so I could only take pictures
around the edges!
